One of them has to be in control of the SIP traffic. If you need them to be the same SIP domain, then bring the traffic to one or the other, then have that system pass the unknown user to the other system for resolution. Sounds like in your situation, you need to bring all SIP traffic into Jabber first, then setup intra-domain federation Jabber > Lync/SfB.tsooradhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17928837963455872673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-330512563102289335.post-41631692079489997152015-10-29T08:43:05.572-07:002015-10-29T08:43:05.572-07:00tsoorad, thanks for the reply. I think to get what you want you will have to setup intra-domain federation between your Jabber and Lync on the inside and let ONE of them be the connection point and refer traffic to the other system as needed.tsooradhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17928837963455872673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-330512563102289335.post-38421590454980874772015-10-27T10:00:58.555-07:002015-10-27T10:00:58.555-07:00I'm curious, we currently have an external SRV...I'm curious, we currently have an external SRV DNS record setup so we can federated with others via Jabber.
Can I add a second _xmpp-server._tcp.ourdomain.com pointing to our Skype(Lync) setup and not have it affect either environment's communications?PCpolohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08158207797612709544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-330512563102289335.post-70934174246119858962014-10-11T13:14:03.627-07:002014-10-11T13:14:03.627-07:00@Jim - http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_...@Jim - http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cups/8_6/english/integration_notes/Federation/Intradomain_Federation/Partitioned_Intradomain_Federation/Overview_chapter.html is the official cisco documentation for intra-domain.
Inter-domain is here: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cups/8_6/english/integration_notes/Federation/CUP_8-6_Interdomain_Federation/Planning_chapter.html

Whether or not either of those apply to more recent versions of CUCM/CUPS/Jabber is not in my personal KB.
-Johntsooradhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17928837963455872673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-330512563102289335.post-41488452475280146922014-10-08T08:57:25.023-07:002014-10-08T08:57:25.023-07:00Thanks for providing this excellent article. However, your article has changed my thinking (i.e. use XMPP into Lync). Can you confirm that your approach will work for presence & chat federation between a Cisco Jabber 9.x or 10.x and Lync 2013 environment?

A tangential question is is the intra-domain stuff. Most customers that want this seem to have something like this:

jim.jabber@foo.com <-> larry.lync@foo.com

Since Jim and Larry are part of the same company, they don't want to use different domains (i.e. jim.jabber@jabber.foo.com and larry.lync@lync.foo.com). Do you have any ideas on how to solve that problem?

Thanks again!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05586488800842662387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-330512563102289335.post-33353671533036405372013-09-26T12:18:02.019-07:002013-09-26T12:18:02.019-07:00Many thanks for this post.
